The Palette That’s Got You Covered & Giveaway!

Having spent the last couple of weeks suffering exams, you will have seen it’s been a little quiet here on Mimi’s Beauty. Despite still tweeting every now and then from @beautyandmi , I haven’t been able to sit down and pen a post for you all – I’ve really missed it! With it being a Sunday, if you keep up with Mimi’s Beauty you’d know that today is ‘Five Minute Fix’ day. However, since I’ve been away and I have a super exciting post for you I thought I would go ahead and jump straight in with today’s full post – including my first, ever giveaway!DSC06914

Makeup Nails Tan‘ is a great online company which boasts a huge range of cosmetics, nail accessories and tanning products. For me, it’s brilliant to find somewhere to be able to purchase American drugstore products, like those from bhcosmetics, for a quite reasonable delivery cost! In the UK, bhcosmetics is a rarity so Makeup Nails Tan is the perfect way to get my fix of USA drugstore, without travelling there to get it!DSC06915

I was lucky enough to be contacted by Makeup Nails Tan and be sent one of the beautiful 88-colour matte palettes and a gorgeous angled blending brush. A quick mention first about the delivery of this product – I was so impressed! It arrived within two days and was wrapped in a bubble wrap package (no worries about cracked shadows!). Giving the appearance of a high end brand, the palette came in a matte, black box and has a slightly reflective, black case.DSC06905DSC06931

The palette itself contains 88 different shades ranging from muted browns, to wicked greens, to vibrant yellow, to pale creams, to bold pinks etc. You get the idea. This palette has every colour and has got your back. That everyday neutral eye you love? It’s got all you need. Going bold and brave on the eyes? It’s pretty clear that this palette will have the colour you want.  Although this palette was ‘matte’, and the majority of the shades are matte, be aware that there are a few shimmers thrown in also; frankly, I love this variety! All the shades are quite well pigmented for such a bargain price, at £20.95 on Makeup Nails Tan, and give a good colour payoff. Although, as expected by the price, these aren’t the greatest shadows I’ve tried, they still work brilliantly and have such a huge range of colours that this palette, or one similar, is definitely one to have in your collection. What struck me most was how strong the bright colours show up, which is often hard to find in a 24p (one pan) eye shadow. For example, the most intense yellow shade really shows up on the lid true to the colour in the pan!DSC06917DSC06937

We all know you can never have too many blending brushes, so I was thrilled when offered the angled shadow brush which is perfect for pushing colour through the crease and giving your eye look a finishing blend for softness. I was really surprised by the soft, tapered bristles – especially for a brush costing just £3.95. This brush is a definite recommendation for anyone hoping to find an affordable eye brush and, if the rest of the range is anything like this, I really want to get my hands on them. I love the look of the ‘small angled blush brush’!DSC06922DSC06927DSC06934
