Oh yes, this post is going to be a good’un. There’s been countless posts about this before, and there will be countless after, because we should never stop talking about this palette.
Ever.
For Christmas, I received the Lorac Pro Palette. A 16-shade strong palette with 8 mattes and 8 shimmers, I’m sure you’ve all heard of it before. I might be a little late on the bandwagon but let me tell you something; if you’re reading this now, a few months later or a few years later, you should buy this palette. If you’re last on the bandwagon – who cares?! We, on the wagon, will be laughing at all those still searching for the perfect neutral toned palette whilst we apply our eyelids with powdered gold. (Does this phrase work if it’s not liquid? Let me know.)
With a selection of almost nude shades right through to deep purple and black, this palette has every colour you will every need to create a neutral or smokey eye. Okay, so you won’t be the most colourful gal at the party, but when it comes to eyes, I think creams, pinks, golds, bronzes and browns are the way to go.
The packaging is lovely – you know that matte, leather-ish soft feel? That. Only problem is, as with all of our beautiful MAC, Nars, Sleek etc. products, it’s really difficult to keep it clean. Those shimmery fingerprints show right up which, for a neat-freak like me, is quite challenging to deal with! There’s a nice sized mirror inside too, which is always a bonus and it’s perfect for travelling since it’s really slim and compact.
The formula of these shadows is a buttery, soft powder that glides on the lid effortlessly and the pigmentation is unbelievable. Honestly, lightly touch the pan and you’re left with a full swatch on your finger. I’ve never used shadows like it, they are so easily blendable and buildable to give you a flawless eye look – definitely the palette to pull out tonight on New Year’s Eve!
I would say, for me, the highlights of the palette are Pewter, a shimmery mid-tone brown, Mauve, a lovely light brown with a hint of lilac which I use as my first crease shade, Cream, the perfect base colour to make for easy blending and Garnet, a gorgeous strong bronze which I’m not sure how much I’ll use but I couldn’t not give it a mention. The only slight disappointment, in my opinion, is Champagne as it seems the glitter in it is a little more chunky than the others. Though it still makes for a lovely inner corner highlight shade!
This palette seems quite difficult to get hold of, especially here in the UK – Nordstorm stocks them, though I don’t know how much shipping is. My Dad managed to pick up mine whilst in the USA, but I’ve heard they are often hard to find there as well! However, when you find it, it truly is like finding gold.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this review, and have a great New Year’s Eve – what are your plans? And finally, Happy New Year!
Mimi

This is one of my favorite palettes. I love how nice it looks brand new and clean! Mine is all dirty and used up with a few colors ready to hit pan, but it actually doesn’t bother me. Garnet and Pewter are a few of my favorites as well!

I’m loving it, but I’ve only used it since christmas and I already feel like I’m close to hitting pan on Lt. Bronze! Have you found that each pan doesn’t have a lot in it? x

I’m not sure how much shadow comes in each pan, but I did hit pan and put dents in some of the shadows much quicker than my Urban Decay Naked Palette, which I use very often.

Thank you! In terms of formula, although they don’t differ hugely, I would say Garnet it is the softest and most pigmented! X
